Results of the “Supporting People to Live and Die Well” test websites to be unveiled at NHS event on 5th October at the Bloomsbury Holiday Inn, London.
Speakers such as Professor Mike Richards from the Department of Health and representatives from the University of York will present their findings on how to boost social services in end of life care. The event is free and will run from 9.30am to 4pm.
There will be discussions and talks to evaluate the role of social care commissioners and providers, as well as consider how training and education could be improved in order to provide the best possible service for individuals and their families.
Palliative care will also be at the forefront of discussion, with an “overwhelming majority” of people recently surveyed stating that they would refuse treatment in the terminal stages of illness and would prefer to die at home. It is hoped that this event will provide direction for the future and help firmly instill social care in end of life services.
